Hillcrest Tourist Park
Cabins or camping, it’s so much prettier by the coast and with all your material needs taken care of, from general provisions, petrol and even fishing gear, this is a fantastic base for beaches, surfing, boating and just enjoying the great outdoors.
Starting with the cabins, Hillcrest Tourist Park has eight on offer. All are en-suite and perfect for families, having their own linen and sleeping up to four (two adults and two children) in a combination of double and twin beds. A shower, a fridge and all-important tea and coffee-making equipment are standard, plus you have the convenience of free internet access (wireless, all across the venue) and free parking, even if you are bringing something the size of an RV.
Camping is available on both powered and unpowered sites, with shared facilities including a fully-equipped, coin-operated laundry (you can borrow an iron for free), a car and boat wash, and a mini market for everything from soap powder to magazines. The camp kitchen at Hillcrest Tourist Park has a refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle and sink, as well as a coin-operated barbecue. Guests may make use of the outdoor entertainment area, the adjacent children’s playground, and a games room complete with video games, table-tennis table, and a television.
Hot and cold take-away food can be bought at the previously mentioned mini market, which is also a good place for souvenirs, wine, beer and cigarettes, fishing tackle and bait, fuel – whether it’s for a car, a truck or a boat – ice cream, fresh donuts and DVD rentals.
Off-site, you’ll love Binalong Bay and Peron Dunes. The sea is ideal for surfers and swimmers alike, while the beaches are perfect for sunbathers and any kids with a bucket and spade. A short drive away you can find Percy Steel Reserve, Suncoast Gallery and St Helens History and Visitor Information Centre. Hillcrest Tourist Park itself is under two hours’ drive from LST Launceston Airport.
Situated by the ocean, this campground is within a 5-minute walk of Parnella Conservation Area and McDonalds Point Conservation Area. Peron Dunes and Boggy Creek Conservation Area are also within 3 mi (5 km).
A snack bar/deli, laundry facilities, and a 24-hour front desk are available at this campground. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided. Additionally, an arcade/game room, tour/ticket assistance, and a convenience store are onsite.
All 8 accommodations provide conveniences like refrigerators and coffee makers, plus free WiFi and flat-screen TVs with digital channels. Guests will also find stovetops, showers, and ironing boards.
