Harpers on the Beach
Right on the beach, this B&B gives you an indulgent level of comfort, the possibility of bringing up to twelve people in one go, and is close to the UNESCO-listed Port Arthur Historic Site and beautiful coastal scenery. For five consecutive years, Trip Advisor has given Harpers On The Beach a Certificate of Excellence, landing them in the Hall of Fame, and it’s not difficult to see why.
You are well looked after here in the non-smoking property, with its free parking, heating, wireless internet and daily room service. There is a comfortable queen bed complete with the highest-quality bedding, and your room has its own bathroom with a shower, towels, toiletries and a hair dryer. A television, DVD player, iPod dock, alarm-clock-radio, fridge, mini-bar, an iron and ironing board and the essential tea-making and coffee-making equipment complete the picture inside, while outdoors there is a furnished balcony and you have direct access to the beach from most of the accommodation options.
Some extras, depending on your room choice, are a CD player, separate lounge area, kitchen with stove top, microwave oven, full-size fridge and toaster (and a conventional oven in the Beach Cottage), a veranda, air conditioning, dining setting, additional queen bed, and both cable and satellite television. There is an age limit at this property, so guests must be twelve or over to stay.
What about eating? From the garden to the dining table, Harpers On The Beach serves up a delight when it comes to food. The menu changes from season to season but dinner, which can be arranged in advance, is a delight. Breakfast is a choice of continental or cooked, and also uses the freshest local ingredients. There are also pizza evenings, adaptations for special diets such as gluten-free and then there’s the option of an antipasto platter.
Port Arthur Historic Site is of course the number-one tourist attraction in the area, and the natural beauty of the beach next to the B&B is another good reason for choosing this property. You are also not far from the friendly fur seals courtesy of a cruise organised by Wild Ocean Tasmania, the unconventional Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, Tasman Golf Club, a variety of walking and cycling routes plus opportunities for fishing, scuba diving and snorkelling. Alternatively, you can take to the air in a helicopter charter for an aerial view of a lifetime.
This White Beach guesthouse is on the beach, 7.7 mi (12.5 km) from Port Arthur Historic Site, and within 16 mi (25 km) of Remarkable Cave and Coal Mines Historic Site. Cape Hauy Track and Devils Kitchen are also within 25 mi (40 km).
Tour/ticket assistance, a garden, and barbecue grills are available at this smoke-free guesthouse. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided.
All 5 individually decorated rooms feature free WiFi and iPod docks. For a bit of entertainment, guests will find LCD TVs with DVD players, and other amenities include balconies and espresso makers.
Lovely cottage on the beach. We stayed in a room in the main building which was very comfortable and homely. White Beach is just out the back door. A full cooked breakfast was supplied. Owners Jill and John were lovely hosts. Definitely would come back to this beautiful part of the world.
Stayed here for one night whilst touring round Tasmania, one night simply not enough. Light and airy accommodation, very comfortable, with the beach simply yards away from your own deck area. If you’ve ever wondered what Heaven looks like I guess this must be it. In addition to lovely accommodation meals taken here are fabulous, dinner cooked by host Jill is just about as good as it gets. Totally recommend this place for a relaxing stay.
