Driftwood Cottages
There is quite a choice of luxury self-catering places to stay here, whether it is for a couple or a group of up to five, in an excellent place for water-based activities and for exploring the Huon Valley, as well as being not far from Hobart.
The four choices with Driftwood Cottages are: Waterfront Studios, Ocean View Cottages, The Beach House and Seascapes. All are self-contained, with the studios boasting underfloor heating, and named after a different Tasmanian timber, which decorates the kitchen area. The two cottages are set a little further back from the water’s edge, have two bedrooms and one has a two-person spa bath while the second is fully wheelchair-accessible. If you are staying at The Beach House there is even an outdoor jacuzzi hot tub sunk into the deck area, plus sleeping space for up to five. Seascapes contains three bedrooms, its own garden and fantastic views of the sea.
Among the top-quality amenities are a full kitchen, en-suite bathroom, television, direct-dial telephone and off-street parking. Some boast laundry equipment, free wireless internet, a leather sofa, a mini-bar with an excellent range of Tasmanian tipples, barbecue equipment and reverse-cycle heating and cooling.
Within walking distance of Driftwood Cottages are Port Esperance and Kents Beach. They are also close to the Hartz Mountains, Ida Bay Railway, Tahune Airwalk and the enchanting Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs. An hour’s drive takes you to the furthest point south anywhere in Australia: Cockle Creek, an enchanting spot for a picnic.
Nestled on the beach, this Dover cottage is within a 10-minute walk of Port Esperance and Kents Beach. St. Imre Vineyard and Esperance Point Conservation Area are also within 3 mi (5 km).
Guests at this beach cottage will appreciate convenient onsite amenities such as barbecue grills and a picnic area.
All 8 accommodations boast heated floors and offer free WiFi and kitchens. Dryers and furnished balconies are standard, as are LCD TVs with digital channels. Housekeeping is not available.
