There is plenty to keep you entertained here while the rest of it is under construction, with a wide variety of accommodation options to suit most pockets, from those travelling on a shoestring to the more opulent tourists, all in a beautiful setting.
Derwent Valley Resort has quite a range of rooms, from a budget single to a penthouse suite. All have tea and coffee-making equipment, a microwave oven, a bar fridge, free wireless internet and an LED television. Single, double and bunk beds and communal bathroom facilities are the standard with the budget options, or you could have somewhere with a queen bed, an en-suite bathroom and even a balcony and elegant leather furniture. For a small surcharge, it is possible to hire a cot or to accommodate one more person than a room or suite’s official allocation.
There is a billiard room and a fully equipped gym at Derwent Valley Resort, along with plenty of free parking and a communal laundry. Barbecue equipment is also available for the guests, with plenty of outdoor space in which to enjoy a good get-together. Some of the attractions are still under construction, but the owners have confirmed that a restaurant, indoor swimming pool, cinema and indoor recreation centre, complete with a basketball court, are coming soon. Guests have access to all of these included in the price of their stay.
Without even leaving New Norfolk, visitors can enjoy golf, fishing, antique shopping, a weekly produce market and even a ghost tour. A ten-minute drive is all it takes to reach Derwent Valley wineries or the whiskey tasting at Redwoods Estate, and not much further afield there is the Cadbury chocolates visitor centre and Westerway raspberry farm. The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is also not far off, and Hobart’s Central Business District is only thirty minutes away by car.
Situated in New Norfolk, this hotel is 2.2 mi (3.5 km) from Rosedown Gardens and within 12 mi (20 km) of Salmon Ponds Heritage Hatchery and Gardens and Myrtle Forest. Museum of Old and New Art and Claremont House are also within 16 mi (25 km).
