While the cottages differ in some ways, you can be sure of a good night’s sleep in the comfortable, large double bed with high-quality bedding. There is a bathroom with a shower, a full kitchen and an assortment of breakfast provisions. These come from the local area and include eggs, bacon, orange juice and bread from a nearby baker’s. You will love the way the place has been furnished inside, with the feel of a nineteenth-century farm cottage and the modern comforts of the twenty-first century.
Kitchen facilities at one of the properties of Blackwood Park Cottages include a stove top, a refrigerator and a microwave oven, as well as plenty of space to work in. There is a wooden dining table complete with tableware, and both Venetian and roller blinds are fitted to the windows. Another has the addition of an oven as well as more living space plus entertainments such as a television, DVD and CD player, barbecue equipment and a selection of books. This latter, the Heritage Cottage, has a second en-suite bathroom, space for up to four adults, plus one child sleeping in a trundle bed, and comes with electric blankets for your extra comfort.
The views of the countryside are outstanding, and Blackwood Park Cottages would make a good base for hikers, cyclists or anyone else interested in exploring Mole Creek Karst National Park (just over ten minutes away by car). A little nearer are Alum Cliffs State Reserve and Marakoopa Cave, or you could just kick back and relax on the property. The owners have constructed a number of garden rooms for visitors to enjoy in the beautiful Tasmanian sunshine. You can help yourself to a range of herbs and fruit growing here, and if you fancy getting closer to the farm animals, you may feed the sheep, cows and alpacas.
Situated in Mole Creek, this cottage is within 1 mi (2 km) of Alum Cliffs State Reserve and Mersey Hill Karst Nature Reserve. Marakoopa Cave and Trowunna Wildlife Park are also within 3 mi (5 km).
