Bicheno Caravan Park
It’s a lot more than just caravans here, as you can stay in one of the en-suite rooms, or bring a tent, and everyone has the use of good kitchen facilities, showers, barbecues, a takeaway restaurant and a television room.
Bed linens, heating and a private bathroom are features of all of the rooms at Bicheno Caravan Park, as is the use of barbecue equipment. Going all the way from a one-person and two-person room to a five-person room and a mixed dormitory, in most cases there is a bedside table and a reading lamp, and guests have the use of all the communal facilities too.
A static caravan may also be booked, or you could bring your own to one of the powered sites. Sites without a power source provide an ideal spot for putting up a tent, with a generous five by eight metres per pitch.
Naturally, you’ll want somewhere to freshen up if you are sleeping under canvas, so Bicheno Caravan Park has an amenities block with showers and toilets included in the price, regardless of which accommodation option you go for. There is a well-equipped camp kitchen, a television room, a guest laundry and an area where you can gather around the barbecue equipment for steaks and sausages.
The children have a play area where they can run around and let off steam, and your four-legged friend is welcome at this pet-friendly park. Free parking, helpful reception staff and a restaurant serving all manner of dishes from Chinese, seafood and chicken to burgers and snacks, not forgetting drinks (the milkshakes are definitely worth trying), and you’re all set for a good time by the sea.
Say ‘Bicheno’ and there are two things that will probably spring to mind: the blowhole that spouts seawater high into the air in a way that puts the average lawn fountain to shame, and the penguin tours available in the evening when the quaint little fellows make their way back to their nests. Bicheno Visitor Centre is close to the caravan park, so you can find out more regarding things to do, and a twenty-minute drive will take you to Devils In The Dark or Denison Beach.
