Airwalk Lodge – Hostel
Mere minutes from the spectacular Tahune Airwalk, the dormitory accommodation here includes the use of a large kitchen, a dining area and a fireplace.
All of the dorms at Airwalk Lodge are for non-smokers and feature bunk beds and the use of a shared bathroom. You have a tea and coffee maker as well as a large communal kitchen that includes two ovens, two sets of stoves with four burners each and a large extractor hood, a ceiling fan and a good deal of food-preparation space. In the adjacent open-plan dining area there are a few dining tables and a lot of chairs, along with a wall-mounted, flat-screen television and a computer station.
There is also the opportunity to book a Double or Twin Room, again with the use of a shared bathroom. Wireless internet is available for free throughout the building, and the hostel is pet-friendly. Barbecue equipment is provided and the staff provide a tour and ticket-booking service, although, as you can imagine, there is primarily one attraction which the guests at Airwalk Lodge come for.
Tahune Airwalk itself is a breathtaking elevated walkway thirty metres above ground level. The full trip takes a little under an hour to complete, with a gradual ascent of over one hundred steps. At the end of it all is a cantilevered viewing platform fifty metres high. There is wheelchair access to the Airwalk (contact the staff beforehand) and well-behaved dogs on a lead are permitted to come along for the adventure too.
Situated in Southwest, this hostel is 0.1 mi (0.1 km) from Tahune Airwalk and within 20 mi (32 km) of Forest & Heritage Centre and Hartz Mountains National Park. Wooden Boat Centre and St. Imre Vineyard are also within 32 mi (52 km).
