Day 1:
Arrive Launceston. Pick up car Launceston Airport. Drive to City. Walks in Cataract Gorge.
Note: Superior Package Includes Full Size Rental Vehicle

Day 2:
Drive West Bank of Tamar River, then cut across northern Tasmania to Cradle Mountain.

Day 3:
Walks at Cradle Mountain. Drive to the West Coast village of Strahan.Stop at Henty Dunes and Zeehan Mining Museum on the way.

Day 4:
Gordon River Cruise* – Lunch Included. Drive out to Ocean Beach to feel the “Roaring 40s” and experience a wilderness Cool Temperate Beach at its best.

Day 5:
Drive up over the mountains, through the old mining town of Queenstown and on the Derwent Bridge. Visit the wilderness “Wall” before lunch at the Derwent Bridge Hotel. Walk in the rainforest to experience man ferns and waterfalls at Russell Falls before following the Derwent Valley into Hobart.

Day 6:
Spend the day exploring Salamanca Place and Battery Point. If Saturday, Salamanca Market will be in full swing.Drive up Mt Wellington for spectacular views out over Southern Tasmania.  Optional self-drive to historic Richmond – 20 minutes from Hobart.

Day 7:
Drive to Port Arthur. Admission to Port Arthur Historic Site included. Afternoon drive up the East Coast via Orford to Freycinet National Park. Stop at Spiky Bridge, Kate’s Berry Farm and Freycinet Vineyard on the way.

Day 8:
Take the 4 hour cruise to Wineglass Bay.  Lunch is included.  Drive to Bicheno and northwards. Cut over the Elephant Pass and then through St Marys and the Fingal Valley to join the Main Road Heritage Highway.  Follow it to Launceston.

Drop Car Launceston Airport. Depart Launceston.  Note: Can also depart Hobart Airport.

History & Nature Walks: 8 Day 7 Night

Day 1:
Arrive Hobart Airport, pick up mid-size automatic ranted car. Includes insurance and fees and taxes. Drive into Hobart. If Saturday, the Salamanca Market will be in full swing. Afternoon drive up Mount Wellington for views out over all of southern Tasmania.

Day 2:
Head southeast to the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur. See the amazing (yes, truly amazing) sea cliffs at Eaglehawk Neck then drive to Port Arthur to get the full story on th Convict History of Australia, and particularly Tasmania’s part in it. Drive back to Hobart.

Day 3:
Take the ferry from Brooke St Pier in Salamanca Place up the Derwent River to MONA – The Museum of New and Old Art. The Museum is spectacular: stay for lunch before catching the ferry back to Salamanca Place.

Day 4:
Take in the Derwent Valley in the morning with a visit to Russell Falls, then head to the East Coast and drive north to Freycinet by way of Orford and Swansea. Stop at Spiky Bridge, Kate’s Berry Farm and Freycinet Vineyard on the way for some history and local produce.

Day 5:
Take the Wineglass Bay Nature Cruise from Coles Bay to visit the beach and enjoy the sealife. During the afternoon visit the Freycinet Marine Farm and then climb the trail to the Saddle to see down over Wineglass Bay.

Day 6:

Drive to Bicheno and northwards. Cut over the Elephant Pass (stop at the pancake shop at the top of the pass) and then through St Marys and the Fingal Valley to join the Main Road Heritage Highway.  Visit historic Clarendon House and the village of Evandale.  Drive to Cradle Valley via Deloraine, through bush and farmlands to Cradle Mountain. Stop at the Honey Factory at Mole Creek.

Day 7:
Walks at Cradle Mountain. Then drive to Sheffield and on to Elizabeth Town with a stop at the Ashgrove Cheese outlet. Then its on to Launceston via the West Bank of the Tamar River.

Day 8:
Visit Cataract Gorge and Downtown Launceston before heading to the airport for the flight home.
