Tasmania's West Coast: True Rainforest Wilderness, Gordon River and Wild Ocean.
It takes a full day to travel from Hobart to the West Coast Fishing Village of Strahan. The journey takes you up the Derwent Valley, with a stop to visit Russell Falls, then continues through small country villages and farmlands before climbing into the highlands. This is an area of mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers: wild country without many people. The pipes and canals that connect the power stations that produce much of Tasmania's hydro electricity can be seen as you drive through.

Once you arrive in Strahan, two nights private lodge accommodation will give you a chance to experience a place where cool winds blow, the water and the air are pure and nature can be seen all around. Strahan is a fishing village, and the fish and seafood comes straight off the boats and into the local restaurants.

Take the Gordon River Cruise.
After flowing 190 km through Tasmania's uninhabited wilderness, the Gordon River meets the sea at Macquarie Harbour, near Strahan. The reflections on the Gordon River are famous, and the boats that travel from Strahan daily are specially designed to keep the water as calm as possible to not harm the natural environment. Taking the Gordon River Cruise through the wilderness is the experience of a lifetime.

Visit Cradle Mountain.
During the journey from Strahan to Launceston on the last day of the tour, your guide will stop at Cradle Mountain. Walk to Dove Lake and see Cradle Mountain as part of your West Coast Wilderness Tour.
